What this doesn't check
It checks one page, not your whole site. It doesn't judge the quality of your writing, your rankings, or whether an AI assistant actually recommends you. It reads what's served before JavaScript runs, which is what most AI crawlers see.
Why a page can look fine and still be invisible to AI
Your browser runs JavaScript, so it builds the page after it loads. Googlebot does that too, eventually. Most AI crawlers don't. GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot read the HTML your server sends first, and if the words only appear after JavaScript runs, they get an empty page.
That's why the usual SEO tools can score a site green while AI assistants can't quote a word of it. They check the page head: title, description, schema. The body can be empty and the head still passes. I've seen a contractor's site score well in a popular SEO tool while sending Googlebot zero words of body text.
What the check looks for
- Whether each crawler receives the full page, a thinner page, or nothing
- Whether your firewall refuses AI crawlers by name
- Whether robots.txt tells AI crawlers to stay out
- Whether the page has a title, one main heading, a description and a canonical link
- Whether structured data is present and readable
- Whether your sitemap has dates, and whether your share image is large enough to show
